Und dann wollten wir noch ein wenig wandern. Wir hatten vom VC Informationen zum Wildcat Trail.
"Wildcat Trail
You can get a good feel for Monument Valley on this 3.2-mile loop around the West Mitten. It’s the only hike in the park that you can do without a guide. The trail—foot travel only—begins from the picnic area .4 miles north of the visitors center, then drops down from the rim. Cairns and a few signs mark the way. It’s open the same hours as Monument Valley Drive.
The Wildcat Trail (Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park): As at Canyon de Chelly, there's only one trail at Monument Valley that you can hike without a guide. This easy 3.2-mile trail loops around West Mitten Butte providing a close-up look at one of the most photographed rock formations in the West. Don't miss this hike.
The Wildcat Trail, accessed along a short swerve from the beginning of the Valley Drive, is the single exception to Monument Valley's tight visitor rein. This walking trail drops off the escarpment and ambles for five kilometres through the valley, banking around the West Mitten, with its tapered base so like a pedestal it's as though it was created purely as a display item. It's the only chance I find to get up close to the natural architecture of the valley."
Er startet auf dem Mitten View Ausweichcampground.
Ein herrlicher und einfacher Trail. Sehr empfehlenswert.
Müde, aber sehr glücklich, verbrachten wir den Abend auf dem Campground.
